Feministing Puts The Boot Into Porn For Women Book
Last month I wrote about a new book called Porn for Women which features photos of clothed men doing housework.
There’s now a post at Feministing about the book and they’re not too keen on it.
While a part of me feels like I need to get my hands on this book, it’s sad that we would need pictures and descriptions of “considerate men†to jerk off to rather than expect it or have it from the men in our actual lives. Porn generally consists of sexual fantasy; making me dinner should be a standard, not something I fantasize about.
Good point.
The comments are worth reading too.
Meanwhile, the comments about this at Metafilter are pretty amusing:
“What really turns women on is a massive sweeping generality or stereotype double-dipped in gold and chocolate and strapped over the pool boy’s mouth.”
and
“Wow. In the future, anyone searching for posts tagged with “porn” and “women” is gonna be disappointed.” (Yep, gotta agree with this one).
There’s also a long thread about the book at Snopes.
I still think the “Cambridge Women’s Pornography Collective” is fake. There’s even less information on Google about them today than there was 2 weeks ago.
