Porn For Women Book
Hmm. Seems someone decided to take the “Blue Day Book” idea and raunch it up.
Porn for Women, allegedly* written by the “Cambridge Women’s Pornography Cooperative” with photography by Susan Anderson, features photos of half-naked men doing housework.
The pics are accompanied by phrases like “I love a clean house” and “As long as I have two legs to walk on, you’ll never take out the trash.” There’s also quite a few references to chocolate.
I think we can safely say that this book won’t add anything to the current genre of women’s porn, but it will make a handy present for your mother or girlfriend if she’s feeling a bit depressed.
Perhaps what is more interesting is that mainstream publishing felt it was OK to produce this book (and actually call it “porn for women”). That suggests that society is becoming a bit more relaxed about the idea of women enjoying visual stimulation. Admittedly this is more in the Chippendales tradition of women ogling men, but it’s better than nothing.
* I can’t find any reference to the “Cambridge Women’s Pornography Collective” beyond this book. I’m assuming it’s just a fictional creation meant to be a joke. The word “collective” with it’s overtones of 70s feminism is meant to subvert the long tradition of women opposing porn on feminist grounds. It seems a bit outdated, actually.
