Blam! Blam! - New Porn Mag For Women

Two young women from Milwaukee* have launched a new “sensuality magazine” aimed at women.

Jenna Leskela and editor Michelle Scifers are the women behind Blam!Blam!, a quarterly journal featuring erotic fiction, photography, articles and sex advice. According to their website, they came up with the idea after attending a sex toy party.

The unusual name is inspired by a line from David Bowie’s Suffragette City.

The article in OnMilwaukee says the girls spent a year researching that mythical holy grail of “what women want.”

“Women need more of a cerebral experience to get turned on,” says Scifers. Er, yes. That’s just the sort of quote that will have the “porn for women is stereotypical” brigade up in arms, I’m afraid. Although they say their content will appeal to both men and women, so that may placate some people.

In any case, it’s nice to see some more young women getting up and doing their best to portray their own brand of female sexuality. The magazine is $10 and can be purchased via their website. Will be interesting to see how they go.

* Which is, as we all know, pronounced Mee-lee-war-kay. Alice Cooper says it means “the good land”. Party on, Garth.

    “Hey man, well she’s a total blam-blam.”

I’d describe myself as more of a total “ecky ecky ecky pitang” sort of girl.

I must admit, I was never a Bowie fan, except for his impressive package in Labyrinth.

[...] New Porn Magazines and a Guide For Smart Girls The year saw a number of indie magazines for women pop up. Blam! Blam! and German mag Gluck both featured “boys next door” (read thin, pale and smoking cigarettes) and aimed to avoid being Playgirl. Sweet Action magazine didn’t managed to bring out any new issues during the year. Meanwhile, Violet Blue’s comprehensive book the Smart Girl’s Guide To Porn made it to the shelves, with plenty of positive reviews. [...]
