Wow. Erika Lust, who produced the amazingly good Five Hot Stories For Her, is working on a new project. And she’s just released this 7 minute short to promote it.

The first half is a bit too dark to really work out what’s happening but things hot up at the mid way mark. Just goes to show that a film can be incredibly erotic without going into too much explicit detail. And when you do see that erect cock… it makes the impact that much stronger.

Gorgeously filmed too… amazing production values. I’m very keen to see what she’s working on!

The always-busy Erika Lust is due to release a new book this month called “X For Women” (more info here). The book is intended to be a guide for women who want to know more about porn and features various discussions about the porn industry, how to choose the right adult movie and lists of recommendations.

Erika says: “We can and must be able to enjoy ourselves without feeling offended. I will take you through the history of the genre, how men’s sexuality and values have been imposed, new feminine and feminist adult movies, recommended films and where to find them, special online shops for women, how to watch explicit films at home, which sub-genres could be more appealing and more.”

She has created the book with the help of two graphic artists and, judging by the preview pages, it certainly makes an impact.

The book contains a chapter called “When, Where and How Much?” While the book focuses on films rather than websites, I hope I get something of a look in. Websites do tend to get ignored in these discussions which can be disappointing.

The book is due to launch sometime this month and will appear in English and Spanish editions.

Erika Lust’s latest film The Barcelona Sex Project is a documentary-style erotic movie that aims to enlighten as well as arouse. The film features three men and three women talking about their hobbies, their work, their passions and their sex lives, after which they masturbate on camera.

I thought it was a wonderfully engaging movie, one that was both interesting and sexy. My review of the film is appearing at For The Girls on Thursday.

I was a huge fan of her first film Five Hot Stories for Her. I think Erika is one of the leading lights of women’s erotica so I’m pleased to offer this short-but-exclusive interview with filmmaker Erika Lust about the film.

How did you find your six subjects?
It was a casting amongst the most open and talkative performers and newcomers who live and work in Barcelona. We need people that was able to speak from their inside and perform a masturbation scene and do both things with passion.

Why did you decide to use both men and women?
Because I think that women want to see both how men and women masturbate. That we can find both men and women attractive, it’s all about the personality.

Did anyone have any difficulty coping with masturbating on camera?
It was a great shoot, but some of them told me that it was more difficult for them to masturbate in front of the camera than to perform sex with other person. Also because I wanted them to do it as themselves, not as “pornstars”, as true and real as possible, without thinking of the camera

Was it a difficult film to create?
It’s a very minimalist erotic documentary, and the production was also done with a very small team and just in 6 days. Besides that, My baby girl was only 8 months old and I only was able to be in the set from 9 to 5.

Do you have a favourite participant?
Maybe my favourite is Dunia, she is a very sexy, and funny Brazilian bisexual working mother, with tons of positive energy. Everyone is special in their own way and so different… That’s the great thing with the six of them, everyone can find their fave.

The film has been nominated at the Venus Berlin awards and will also be shown at the Berlin Porn Film festival. I’m excited because I’ll be in Berlin for the festival and can hopefully get together and meet Erika in person.

Erika Lust is about to release her second major film – the Barcelona Sex Project. This documentary-style film is a move away from her plot-based vignettes of Five Hot Stories For Her.

A feminist adult movie, created for women by women, the film discloses the private lives and sexuality of six individuals. The project is based on the conviction that women desire to know a person’s inner character (their beliefs, their character, their feelings, fears and passions) before becoming drawn to them on a sexually intimate level.

The film is in Spanish but it does have English subtitles. It will be available from June 15 at Erika’s site (see link above).

Erika is also doing something different with this movie – she’s donating 5% of proceeds from each DVD to The Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW), Equality Now and WOMANKIND Worldwide.

I’ve now watched Erika Lust’s debut film Five Hot Stories For Her and I have to say I’m very impressed. This film won movie of the year at the Feminist Porn Awards and I think it deserved it. Certainly this film now shares a spot on my “all time favourites” list.

Five Hot Stories For Her is a pretty good title. This movie has consists of five individual short films, all of them offering a complete story about love, sex and relationships. The main focus is explicit sex, of course, but that’s not enough for Erika; she gives the audience a compelling, believeable reason to watch the sex. This isn’t plot for plot’s sake, as you’ll find in so many mainstream “feature” porn films. Here the story exists to make the sex that much hotter.

Congratulations to Spanish filmmaker Erika Lust. Her debut adult feature Five Hot Stories For Her won Best Spanish Script at the Barcelona International Erotic Film Festival (more info here).

The film is slowly being distributed in Europe and, according to her blog, will be released in the US in the next couple of months. I’m really looking forward to seeing it. I’m assuming it will have subtitles, but I’m not sure about that.

Erika’s been a bit busy lately, given that she gave birth to a baby girl in August (or, as she so amusingly puts it, she “got” a baby).

She’s also appearing at the Porn Festival in Berlin in an English panel discussion called Good Porn for Good Girls. Also appearing are Petra Joy and Audacia Ray, along with Julia Ostertag from Berlin, and Ovidie from Paris.
