Article: Porn As Women’s Liberation
Amidst a flurry of mainstream media articles about porn recently, Press Telegram has a piece about the growing influence of women in the adult industry.
The article interviews Jamye Waxman and Candida Royalle as well as Anne Semans from Babeland.
Unfortunately the story is short on statistics about how many women are into porn. I guess the Nielsen Netratings statistics of 28% don’t come up easily on Google.
My other complaint is the mention of Sex and the City. It’s becoming pretty monotonous to hear this TV show mentioned in every article about women exploring their sexuality. The show didn’t do much for me; I thought the characters were kind of vacuuous. Not only that, but it finished in 2004, so the association is getting a little stretched, I think.
