There's Just No Pleasing Some PeopleI couldn't help but laugh at this angry commentary about porn for women. The female writer has managed to find a number of my websites and taken umbrage at every single one of them, suggesting that they're too stereotypical. "As a woman I can tell you one thing about our gender- we are as diverse and complicated as they come." Hey, you know what... she's RIGHT!! My God, that's inspired. I'm writing that down in my notebook. She went particularly over the top in response my site Female Fantasies. "There can be no one website, book, song, whatever that narrows down our fantasies," she says in an expert manner. "This website erroneously does that by offering The Bondage fantasy, bisexual Fantasy, Slave Fantasy, Queen Fantasy, Lesbian Fantasy, and Massage Fantasy as the top choices." Uh, excuse me, but I don't recall putting anywhere on that site: NOTE: THIS SITE DEPICTS THE ONLY FEMALE FANTASIES THAT EXIST AND IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHERS YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY SOME SORT OF HIDEOUS PERVERTED MONSTROSITY" And while I was tempted to buy the domain asmallselectionoffemalefantasiesthatarentindicativeofwhateverywomanwants.com I just decided it wasn't quite catchy enough. As you may have guess I'm getting a little tired of the "you're being stereotypical" brigade, the ones who say "How dare you write 'women like this or that' and how dare you label your sites porn for women because *I* like something different and so do a couple of my friends. So you're wrong and you should stop." Of course I've written about this before (and here as well so I probably don’t need to say it again. Still, right now I just feel like yelling: For Christ’s sake, stop being such a pack of bloody whingers. If you don’t like it, go off and look at some other fucking porn. Or make some of your own. I’m making porn that I like, and, judging from my traffic, so do a lot of other women. So stop saying we’re traitors to the sisterhood because we like stuff that may be considered “stereotypical”. If you’re a woman who wants to see two gay men spanking and spitting on each other then giving each other facials, well giddy up. But I’m not going to make a site about it because it’s just not my bag baby. Why do I find this shit so annoying? Perhaps it’s because I KNOW there are plenty of women out there who are sick of the way mainstream porn is presented (and yes, I have the surveys to prove it) and I’m trying to offer them an alterative. It’s not THE alternative, but just another option. But these “you’re being stereotypical” chicks seem to be saying “Hey… I like porn exactly the way it is and other women should too… and if they don’t, then they’re obviously not liberated or cool or self-accepting enough.” Maybe THAT’S the issue. Maybe it’s the suggestion that the only porn-loving woman has to be a goth/bondage/pierced suicide girl with 16 partners and some kind of disease, and the average white housewife who just wants to see a bit of romance or a storyline or a female orgasm isn’t being honest with herself, and isn’t really in touch with her sexuality because she doesn’t like facial cumshots or violent anal sex. Well, too bad. I’ve made a lot of porn for women sites that are just plain simple couples photos with a bit of romance, and their aimed at Ms Average who just wants to see something naughty and something that at least acknowledges her existence.
