Stella Films (Red Light Interactive) and the City of Flesh seriesYesterday by chance I discovered that Red Light Interactive had changed their name to Stella Films (partly to avoid confusion with a gonzo porn company) and that they had - gasp - recently released City of Flesh 5! I should have been paying far more attention. In any case, I eagerly checked out the Stella Films website and watched the preview clips on offer. The trailers are like mini-films in themselves and are quite the turn-on - they're very explicit. Each of the City of Flesh films features original music from up-and-coming DJs and musicians, lots of arty photography and some very good looking porn stars. I must admit, after my bad experience with Michael Ninn's wanky film I'm a little worried that these movies might be style over substance, but I'm not going to make that call until I review them myself. What they do seem to offer is plenty of hardcore sex set out within the realm of female fantasy. The vignettes described offer interesting sexual scenarios that I think would be satisfying to watch. Stella Films is run by Estelle Joseph, also known as Dominique X. "Our films are created by women," she said in a press release. "Men can’t produce these types of movies, where the emphasis is just erotica. This is an alternative to conventional pornography." Their latest newsletter asks women to support the producers of women's porn and to talk openly about what they like to see in adult material. I wholeheartedly agree with her there. The sooner women become the "squeaky wheel" in porn, the sooner the mainstream will start to listen. You'll find links to the City of Flesh films on Porn Movies for Women.
