Review notes from Deep Inside Annie SprinkleI really enjoyed this film. It was a complete blast stepping back to 1982 when porn was much more realistic. There were no boob jobs, no Brazilian waxes, and no fake facial scenes. Even the guys are allowed to groan and sound vulnerable when they come. This is the film that allowed Annie Sprinkle to step beyond mere porn and to create her own brand of explicit material complete with joyfulness and positivity. There's nothing run-of-the-mill about this film. The sex acts are varied and realistic, there's very few porn cliches, and it looks like everybody is having a blast. Once again I sat down to watch the movie and made notes as I went. So here's some of my thoughts, made as they happened, during the film: "It’s confronting that Annie instantly breaks down the wall between the porn star and the viewer by showing photos of herself as a child and a teenager. And then she shows us pics of her family too! I like that introduction bit. It’s real." "Shit Annie, don’t go too near the fire in that nylon dress!" "OK, now the music sounds like The Greatest American Hero or something by Mike Post. Maybe it’s Trapper MD, or Starsky and Hutch…" "This scene looks like it was done with just the one camera, and the first take was focused solely on Sassy’s face. Her excitement is real, the moans are real, the orgasm is real. There aren’t many porn films where the woman is clutching a pillow around her head as the orgasm approaches….
