Indeed, they found that men's emotional centres were more active during ejaculation and that men were also far more responsive to physical sensation. The researchers have concluded that relaxation is very important to women during sex. "What this means is that deactivation, letting go of all fear and anxiety, might be the most important thing, even necessary, to have an orgasm," Dr Holstege said. So... what does this mean when it comes to women and porn? Well, obviously it's beneficial to a woman's arousal to ensure that anxiety and fear aren't part of the process. If a woman is seeking out porn it's possible that she's looking to become more relaxed, to forget about any worries that she has. It may be very vital that any porn she seeks doesn't work against that. I've often thought that the way porn refers to women as "sluts" and "bitches" is not conducive to female pleasure. Such terms may make a woman feel guilty for being sexual and for seeking out the blatant sexuality that is porn. Obviously this would result in an increase in anxiety. The terms are also quite agressive, and often used to make the sex seem hateful. This can't be good for relaxation. And perhaps the thin, waxed and surgically enhanced nature of most of today's female porn stars may also increase anxiety because it's a lot harder to orgasm when you feel fat. But I'm only really speculating. What I do know is that most women find it hard to get off when they're worried about work, or the kids, or what to have for dinner.
