Pornblography's Carly Milne on women and pornOne of her theories is that women and men are essentially after the same thing from porn - a visual hit that will get them off. But she says that because women aren't brought up to like porn they often need to start out with "story stuff" before they can get to the "good stuff" that is gonzo porn. "So I think that eventually women and men have close to the same viewing habits, it just takes women longer to get there," she says. I agree and disagree here. I think that yes, in the end women want stroke material just the same as men. We want a nice hit of naughty visual material to spark off the fantasies, and it doesn't have to have a whole heap of story hanging off it for the sex to turn us on. And no, it doesn't have to be in soft focus either. It can be as gynecological as you like. BUT, and this is always the big but, wanting to skip straight to the dirty bits doesn't mean that we want to see the same sort of dirty bits that men do. Carly seems to be implying that once women get over their initial built-in reluctance and dislike of porn, they'll be loving the anal sex and gapes and facials and bangbus-type nastiness as much as the next man, and to do otherwise means you're obviously not liberated enough. I still stand by the idea that women's porn can be just as hardcore and graphic, but it still needs to be about women's pleasure and women's enjoyment. There are chicks out there who love men's porn just as it is, but there are thousands of other women who want to see something different. At this point in time, I know of absolutely no Gonzo-type films that have been made for women, with pleasure as the main focus. Big gap in the market there. I really need to take up making porn videos... Posted: Thursday 7th April 2005, 1:58 AM Back to the Blog
